Colombia's unique geographical location positions it as a potential regional hub between oceans. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the China-Latin America Forum, the new two-year action plan focusing on infrastructure, technology, and sustainability will bring unprecedented development opportunities to Colombia.
Colombia is located in the northwest of South America, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and is the third largest economy and one of the most populous countries in South America. Colombia's economy is mainly based on the export of resources such as oil, coal, and coffee, but it also has abundant natural and agricultural resources. In 2007, China became Colombia's second largest source of imports for the first time; Since 2019, it has become Colombia's second largest trading partner, with increasingly frequent trade exchanges between the two sides; The bilateral trade volume of goods in 2022 was 22.6 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 13%, and Colombia's exports to China increased by 25% year-on-year. China mainly exports goods such as telephones, computers, steel, organic chemicals, vehicles, and their accessories, while importing goods such as crude oil, nickel iron, scrap copper, raw hides, and leather from Colombia.
On August 22, 2025, a delegation of two foreign businessmen, Reyes and Boyle, from Bogota, the capital of Colombia (Santa Fe) in the Andean region of Latin America, visited Shandong Tengxing Construction Group from afar for in-depth and candid exchanges on the pre construction of a 9-meter-high (2000 ㎡) steel structure storage workshop. The two parties clarified the requirements for pre reserved ventilation and drainage, the direction of water and electricity lines, and the seismic resistance level of constant load wind pressure, and reached a preliminary intention of future cooperations.
