Summary
On July 1-3, 2025, bilateral market access negotiations between China and Ethiopia on Ethiopia's accession to the World Trade Organization were held in Addis Ababa. Both parties have reached a consensus on the pricing of goods and services trade, and agreed to substantially end the bilateral market access negotiations. The substantial conclusion of the bilateral market access negotiations between China and Ethiopia will greatly promote Ethiopia's accession to the World Trade Organization. Ethiopia applied to join the World Trade Organization in 2003 and is currently conducting bilateral market access negotiations with 22 members including China, the United States, the European Union, and Japan. China is the first WTO member to substantially end bilateral negotiations with Ethiopia. Meanwhile, within the framework of the World Trade Organization, China has provided technical assistance to Ethiopia through the "China Project" and actively supported its early accession to the WTO as a least developed country.
Poverty leads to change, change leads to success - Ethiopia went from a disastrous defeat in Shangganling to borrowing from the Chinese model, transforming from the poorest country in Africa to a 'small profile of P. R. China in Africa'.

Ethiopia is located in the heart of the Horn of Africa, with a humid and warm climate, and is known as the "water tower of Africa". With the support of China, Ethiopia has built the first electrified railway in Africa, which is the Eji Railway connecting the capital city of Addis Ababa and neighboring Djibouti.
On August 12, 2025, two hi-end distinguished businessmen from Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, visited Shandong Tengxing Construction Eng. Group, coming from afar for in-depth and candid exchanges on the pre construction of an 8-meter-high steel structure office area. The two sides reached a preliminary cooperation intention on details such as reserved door and window materials, ventilation and drainage, and the direction of water, electricity, and gas lines.
